Funny, I totally got used to having the NYC skyline always in the background while at school. Any visitors were always dumbfounded that I was not constantly amazed by the view. Always wanted to go drive around the city in the middle of the night, thought it would be pretty interesting. But that friggin $15 toll kept me from doing that ever!
